What We're Doing
It’s going to sound like jargon but Qnova, the recycled polyamide we use, is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® and GRS® certified.
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is one of the world’s best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety Q-NOVA® is recycled polyamide fibre that is more than 50% composed of pre-consumption waste. At 45% less Co2 emissions and 39% less H2O consumption as compared to a traditional polyamide, Q-NOVA® is the polyamide fibre with the lowest certified environmental impact.
GRS® is an international, voluntary, full product and supply chain standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled input, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions.
Basically, you can be sure that our products are made from stuff that’s 100% safe for your body and safer than traditional materials for the earth.
The dyeing of our materials is conducted in facilities that are powered by solar energy to greatly reduce Co2 emissions. They also use a circular water process which prevents chemical dyes and microfibres from being released into the water system. Our production process is seamless as well, so the waste generated from it is minimal.
We wouldn’t truly be all about real bodies if we didn’t also secure the wellbeing of the real people who helped create our products.
Our artisans are based in Portugal, a country known for its exemplary labour laws and ethical working conditions. Our factories are also SEDEX and SMETA-certified to ensure responsible and sustainable business practices and sourcing of materials.

What We're Going To Do
At Ruey we’re committed to complete transparency; if we’re real with you, we grow with you. Join us on our journey and we’ll keep you in the loop, free of BS.
Our production process ensures that the waste generated is minimal - but the little that does exist is still a thorn in our side. So we’re getting busy looking for ways to repurpose these left-overs into something special.
We believe in the potential of all fabrics, even the ones that have lived a full life. So we’re also in the process of setting up a system to repurpose your old garments.
Stay tuned for updates!
At the moment, our products use regular elastane because of its durability and flexibility. But we’re exploring the possibility of switching to eco-lycra which is composed of 20% recycled elastane.
We are in process of applying for a GRS certificate, the primary goal of which is to increase the use of recycled materials in products and reduce the harmful social, environmental, and chemical impacts of production.
It’s a long-term dream but we’re also aiming to apply for a B–corp certification. One of the most prestigious titles a company can hold, B–corp is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials.

What You Can Do
We’re doing everything we can to make sure that our products are durable, sturdy and can keep up with you. But there’s a few things you can do to extend the life-span of your garments. Fun fact: The largest carbon footprint reductions are achieved by extending product lifetime (27%) and washing less (4%)
a. We like it dirty
Wash your garments only when you need to. The less you wash your clothes, the longer they live (and the fewer microplastics they release).
b. Take a cold shower
Try washing your garments at a low temperature. It can slow fading of colors, shrinking in fabrics and can also help your clothes last longer.
c. Green is the new black
Wash your garments with eco-friendly/sustainable detergents easily available in the market.
d. Fibre-free wash
With every wash, microfibres from synthetic fabrics make their way into the water system, damaging the environment. But there’s an easy fix! Pick up a micro-fibre wash bag to tuck your clothes into before tossing them into the washing machine.
e. A quick spritz and you’re ready to go
Invest in a good fabric spritzer that could help you elongate the use of your garments without washing.
f. Get some air
When you’re not wearing your garments, keep them out so they can air out between uses.
